REP. IDEM GETS PDP’S COMMENDATION FOR STERLING PERFORMANCE, REPRESENTING WELL AS PARTY’S ONLY FEDERAL LAWMAKER IN IKOT EKPENE SENATORIAL DISTRICT

“Thank you so for not allowing the PDP to lose totally in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district during the last general elections. Of all the five National Assembly positions that were contested for in the last general elections in the senatorial district, you’re the only representative from the PDP that emerged winner and you’ve been a great ambassador of the party in the federal legislature. We’re proud of you. Please, rise up and take a bow!”

These were some of the words of the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Akwa Ibom state chapter, Rt. Hon. Elder Aniekan Akpan, while praising the Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Rep. Unyime Idem, during the party Congress to elect Chapter Executive Committee Members, at the PDP chapter Secretariat in Ukanafun Local Government Area.

Elder Akpan, who spoke glowingly of Rep. Idem, described him as an ambassador of the PDP in the National Assembly, who has made the constituency and the state very proud.

“You’re a blessing to Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Akwa Ibom state. The party is so proud of your exceptional performance. You’ve ticked all the boxes of a lawmaker.

Your bills, motions and oversight functions are those of national interest and aimed at bringing dividends of democracy to our federal constituency and the state. You have attracted many projects to the federal constituency. Your empowerment programs and projects attracted, including the lighting up of 200 communities across the constituency, roads constructed, federal jobs you’ve facilitated for constituents and Akwa Ibomites, facilitating the inclusion of Akwa Ibomites abroad as ambassadors of the state, among others, are testament of a man who means well for the people, and that can only come from the PDP.”

Responding, Rep. Idem commended Governor Umo Eno, the Leader of the party in the state, for the peaceful conduct of the chapter Congress across the state, and the state party chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan, for supervising and ensuring the Congress goes according to the party’s plan.

He advised the new chapter executive members to shun factional politics but be united, saying that “unity is the only virtue that can guarantee development at any level.”

On his performance, the Idem, who chairs the House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement, said “what you’ve seen so far is nothing compared to what will be coming in the future.”

The PDP Chapter Congress took place across all the 31 Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom State.
