Recent revelations have sent shockwaves through Akwa Ibom State, as reports allege that the immediate past Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has been involved in a scheme to fraudulently acquire 70 percent of the shares in the state’s flagship airline, IbomAir.
This, according to our source, has sparked outrage among the people of Akwa Ibom, who now feel deceived by the man who once held the highest office in the state.
Further fueling the controversy is the involvement of a transaction lawyer, Barrister Odudu Ukpanah, a known ally of the former governor who sometime ago hosted the entire management and staff of IbomAir at his country home in Ukanafun.
Our source further maintained that this event has raised eyebrows and added weight to the allegations of a hidden agenda behind the former administration’s dealings with the airline company.
Critics of Udom Emmanuel’s administration argue that his eight-year tenure was marred by unfulfilled promises, pointing to several high-profile projects that remain non-functional. Among these are the Coconut Refinery, the 21-Storey Building, and the much-publicized Airport Terminal Building.
These projects, touted as key achievements of his government, are now being viewed as empty shells, adding to the growing discontent among the people of Akwa Ibom.
As these allegations continue to unfold, there is a rising call for transparency and accountability regarding the ownership and management of IbomAir. The people of Akwa Ibom are demanding answers and justice, determined not to let their state be shortchanged.
The unfolding situation presents a critical moment for the state’s leadership and institutions to uphold the principles of good governance and protect the public interest.
