A’IBOM NEW CABINET: UDOM INTERFERING WITH UMO ENO’S ADMINISTRATION

By Etim ETIM

Stakeholders and concerned citizens of Akwa Ibom State have expressed worries over the actions of Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the immediate past Governor of the state, who is wielding undue influence over his successor, Governor Umo Eno, in the formation of the state’s executive council.

According to the stakeholders, Mr. Udom Emmanuel’s selfish action has sparked outrage and ignited heated animosity and concerns among Akwa Ibomites.

Investigations have also confirmed that Mr. Emmanuel, who once declared he would step aside with his iPad at the end of his tenure, is allegedly pressuring Governor Eno to adopt his preferred candidates for key positions, including commissioners and special advisers. Critics claim this undermines the autonomy of the current administration.

One contentious point is the purported insistence on reappointing Frank Archibong to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs or the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

Additionally, Mr. Emmanuel is accused of pushing for the inclusion of Iniobong Robson (Etebe), a controversial figure who allegedly vowed to “reset the brain” of Governor Umo Eno, into the list of Commissioner nominees.

A source, Comrade Akanimo Okon, said “This is an insult to Akwa Ibomites. Why can’t Mr. Udom Emmanuel allow Governor Umo Eno to independently shape his government? Is this about governance or protecting his legacy and interests?”

Another source, who is very close to the situation, Richard Akpadiaha, suggested that Mr. Emmanuel’s motivations may stem from a desire to maintain control over the state’s executive council.

Critics have also alleged that Mr. Udom Emmanuel’s action could be an attempt to obscure potential investigations into financial irregularities during his administration.

The delay in submitting the list of commissioners to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has further fueled speculation.

Observers argue that the holdup may be tied to ongoing negotiations or resistance to the former Governor’s alleged interference.

The stakeholders have, therefore, called on Governor Umo Eno to assert his authority and resist any undue influence, stressing that “Pastor Umo Eno should seek spiritual guidance and the counsel of respected figures like Rev. Uma Ukpai to overcome this challenge.”

As the controversy unfolds, Akwa Ibomites are left wondering: What does Udom Emmanuel seek to achieve, and how will Governor Umo Eno navigate this political storm? The people of Akwa Ibom are watching closely, demanding transparency and accountability in their government.

Stay tuned for more information….
