The youths of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District under the auspices of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Youths Mandate (ISDYM) have admonished Senator Natasha Akpoti -Uduaghan to perish the thought that her baseless accusation can tarnish the integrity of the Presiden of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio and warn that Akpabio can never be her victim.
Speaking to news reporters recently in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, on behalf of the group, the President General, Mr. Cyril Essien noted that record has shown that it is not the first time Sen. Natasha has deployed spurious accusation as a tool in her desperate effort to curry public sympathy and divert attention from the main issue.
“Sen. Natasha went against the rule of the Senate and when she was referred to the Ethics and Privileges Committee of the Senate for probe, she resorted to the deployment of her now known antic by accusing Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, of intimidation, victimisation and sexual harassment on her interview on Arise TV. This accusations can best be seen as a futile attempt to whip sentiment, divert attention from her misconduct on the hallowed chamber of the Senate and ingeniously cause the public to excuse her indiscretion”.
Stating further, Mr. Essien added, “We are aware, as record shows, that Sen. Natasha had on different occasions made Sen. Dino Malaye, former Gov. Yahaya Bello and Reno Omokri innocent victims of her spurious, fictitious, baseless, unsubstantiated sexual harassment claim. Discerning members of the public are now conscious of her outdated antics and so Sen. Akpabio is beyond her vicious scheme and can never be another in her list of innocent victims.
Essien likened Natasha’s media/publicity stunts to a drowning man clutching on straw. He noted that Senator Ireti Kingibe, a fellow woman in the Senate, dismissal of Senator Natasha’s claim speak volumes and added that “no sincere woman would lie/keep her husband in the dark about a genuine claim of sexually harassment like she admitted to have done on her Arise TV interview”.
Mr. Essien described Sen. Akpabio as a man who is known for his high moral standard, accommodating spirit and nationalistic approach to leadership – a Statesman who has earned the respect and admiration of many – and call on the public to disregard Natasha’s fictitious claim.
