FEJIRO OLIVER PURSUES PETITION AGAINST FORMER GOVERNOR UDOM EMMANUEL OVER ALLEGED N700 BILLION FUND MISMANAGEMENT

By Etim Etim

In a dramatic development, Fejiro Oliver, a journalist and activist, has announced his return to Nigeria to spearhead a petition against the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, over allegations of financial mismanagement during his eight-year tenure. Landing in Nigeria early this morning aboard British Airways, Oliver vowed to ensure that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) addresses the allegations he has leveled against the former governor.

Commitment to Accountability

Speaking on his arrival, Oliver stated that he returned despite alleged threats of arrest, emphasizing his determination to pursue justice. “The person who will arrest me for leading the submission of petitions against Udom Emmanuel has not been born,” he declared. He accused Udom Emmanuel’s administration of diverting and mismanaging state funds, claiming he has substantial evidence to back his allegations.

Oliver’s petition will reportedly call for accountability over what he describes as the misappropriation of over N700 billion, citing concerns about funds allegedly spent on unfulfilled promises, including the construction of 32 industries, which he claims never materialized.

Ibom Air Under Scrutiny

While acknowledging some of Udom Emmanuel’s achievements, such as the construction of roads, Oliver expressed skepticism about the acclaimed success of Ibom Air. “Today, we will feast a little bit on the truth about Ibom Air,” he said, hinting at potential revelations about the financial dealings behind the state-owned airline.

Refusal to Engage in Political Diversions

Oliver also dismissed attempts to redirect attention toward Senator Godswill Akpabio, a former governor of the state and current Senate President. He maintained that his focus is solely on Udom Emmanuel’s administration. “Akpabio governed differently, and Udom will answer for his own years,” he asserted.

Support from Akwa Ibomites

Oliver claimed his actions are sponsored by concerned Akwa Ibomites, including displaced residents, unemployed youths, and others who feel let down by the former governor’s administration. He criticized Udom Emmanuel for allegedly neglecting the state’s citizens in favor of outsiders, citing recent controversies involving financial grants.

Transparency and Public Involvement

Explaining his decision to go public before formally submitting his petition to the EFCC, Oliver said, “It’s to let the world know and have an interest in the petition, ensuring it is not swept under the carpet.” He called on Akwa Ibomites to share additional evidence and documents that could strengthen the case.

Looking Ahead

Fejiro Oliver concluded by reaffirming his commitment to justice and transparency, encouraging Akwa Ibomites to embrace the spirit of “Dakaada”—a rallying call for greatness in the state. As he prepares to submit his petition to the EFCC, all eyes are on the unfolding developments in what promises to be a high-profile investigation.
