SSDC BOSS MEETS SGF, AKUME, ON STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT AND REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Managing Director of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC), Ms. Usoro Akpabio, recently paid a strategic visit to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, in Abuja.

The visit was aimed at strengthening strategic engagement and inter-governmental linkages in furtherance of the Commission’s mandate to advance Presidential Intervention Initiatives across the South-South region.

Discussions centered on key national priorities, including poverty eradication and reduction programmes, environmental remediation, flood and erosion control, and youth empowerment schemes tied to ecological sustainability and inclusive development.

During the engagement, Senator Akume commended Ms. Akpabio for taking early and proactive steps toward addressing the region’s developmental challenges. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the Commission’s initiatives in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing that the administration remains resolute in driving sustainable regional growth and equity.

Ms. Akpabio, on her part, appreciated the SGF’s assurances and reiterated the Commission’s readiness to collaborate closely with relevant federal and state institutions to deliver tangible results that would impact lives across the South-South region.
